At the end of August, the project "high strength shipbuilding steel composite rolls with high performance" independently researched by Jiangsu Gong-chang Roll Joint Stock Co., Ltd., successfully went through "Wuxi Technology Prize" which organized by Wuxi Science & Technology Bureau. In recent years, the target of Jiangsu Gong-chang has been to create a world-class high alloy composite roll production base, strengthen platform construction, innovate technology and keep stable development under the situaiton of production cut and stop of domestic and foreign similar roll enterprises. It's expected that the total production is to 40,000 tons, and the export USD 15,000,000 with double-digit growth.
The downturn of international iron and steel market has been lasting for a long time since this year. In order to save various costs and reduce consumption, the iron and steel enterprises are increasingly demanding new rolls with high effect and low consumption. Facing the opportunity, Jiangsu Gong-chang actively sets up a wider and higher platform for R & D and inspection. On the basis of R & D platform "Jiangsu engineering research center for double poured rolls with high alloys" and "Jiangsu postdoctoral center", GC invested more than RMB 20,000,000 to construct "National engineering research center" this year, which is under construction now. At the same time, the company also constructs the inspection service platform supported by Jiangsu Huaxin Metallurgical Product Quality Inspection Co., Ltd., which at present has gone smoothly through proficiency testing of "National Laboratory" and entered the period of system authentication as well as site assessment. Besides, it's expected to put into use this year. It will not only greatly promote inspection ablility and quality guarantee ability but also rapidly develop the 3rd party external testing service for stronger influence of the company in the domestic metallurgical industry. This year, the company also takes charge of laying down "National Standards of Forged Roll Blank" which leads the industry.
Meanwhile, another target of Gong-chang Rolls is to reach the most advanced and cutting-edge technology of world roll industry on the way to import, digest, absorb and innovate technology. The company newly starts the project "high alloy spray forming and laser molding technology" which costs about RMB 200,000,000. The project adopts cutting-edge remanufacturing technology of international rolls_centrifugal composite casting instead of forging and monobloc casting technology which not only can manufacture hot strip mill rolls with high performance and high alloy duplex rolls etc., but also realize recycling and remanufacturing waste rolls. Therefore, it greatly reduces various costs of iron and steel enterprises and roll manufacturing enterprises. Caculated by hi-tech rolls 40,000 tons a year, comparing with traditional casting methods, the technology can save electrical energy 48,000,000 KW/h and metal material 40,000 tons. The project has been registered in the major scientific and technological support project branch of National Twelfth Five-Year Plan and Jiangsu scientific and technological support project 2012.
At present, the production scale of the leading hot strip mill rolls with high performance and high alloy duplex rolls has been the second in the world industry and the first in China. The market share is continuously expanding due to the excellent quality and super output capacity. The company has increased cooperation communication with more than 20 large iron and steel enterprises at home and abroad since a few years such as Bao Steel in Shanghai, ArcelorMittal and India etc., which wins more orders.
